The Marx Hotel

The employee's working during my stay were absolutely amazing! My room was clean and I love the old time feel! Not a modernized hotel and that was truly my favorite part! The location is perfect for anyone wanting to be able to walk and enjoy Main Street. I would definitely stay again.

I highly recommend staying here! Emily made our trip to Cooperstown so much better! She went above and beyond to make sure our trip was memorable! By far the best hotel I have ever stayed at. I travel a lot so I see a lot of them. What separates this hotel from all the others? Emily. Thank you Emily for help making our trip to Cooperstown memorable. We won't forget you and the amazing hospitality you showed to me and my kids. If you need a place to stay, this is the best. Their customer service is second to none!!!

Staff was great, continental breakfast was really good, room was clean, tv worked. I really have no complaints at all. It was close to a lot of restaurants and shopping and was only like 5 mins away from Suny Oneonta College which is where we were dropping my daughter at school. Plus it was very affordable compared to a lot of the other hotels nearby. I would absolutely stay here again.

Booked a King room with the whirlpool, it was great! The hotel has an old, cozy feel. You can tell it has a ton of history, which I love. Our room was very clean and spacious, and the bed was wonderful. The staff were consistently kind and courteous. The only complaints I had were that one of the bedside lamps was not functional, and there was a strong scent of cigarettes in the hallway of our room (did not intentionally book a smoking room). This hotel deserves more business, it saddened me that we were the only ones there. Beautiful building with a ton of character, plus a great location.

The Marx Hotel smells clean. It's on the older side with carpets thru out the whole hotel except for the bathrooms. There rooms are clean but if you don't request a handicap room you will receive a room with a whirlpool tub very high. The hotel is easy access to main street and local stores and resteraunts. There was also entertainment on main street the time I went. Very nice worth the price. Train runs thru area at all hours but the other hotels have the same thing as they are all in the same vicinity

The Marx Hotel has such personality, my partner and I really loved it. The hot breakfast options on weekend days were perfect quality, crunchiest bacon I have ever had at a hotel. The staff was so incredibly patient and kind with our questions and even gave us complimentary water bottles during our stay! The fact that the king bedroom was so so spacious and had a bathroom with great accessibility (A giant tub and two shower heads! One with a moveable shower hose is unheard of at hotels at this reasonably affordable price!) and very clean made it a 10/10. A++++ to everyone involved with upkeeping this hotel. BONUS - The second story takes you directly to Main St. where local shops are all so easy to walk to. As for any dislikes, it would just be nitpicking honestly. A well-rounded hotel all around. The locks of the doors are a little stiff (which can be loud so I hope anyone on our floor was not bothered, lol), but can be easily managed. The Wi-Fi was a little spotty at times, but it came back enough for nighttime tablet watches. :) (Note - Not the fault of the hotel itself, but be warned of the loud train horn sounds at night and early morning.) Disclaimer: I copy and pasted my original review from booking.com to here as I felt that the Google reviews here are rather unfair to this hotel! So here's some positivity, while being as unbiased as I can. The Marx has character, the older features like the wallpaper feel very cozy. I would 100% come back again.

We had an extensive stay while in between places. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. We stayed in the King Suite with the fireplace and whirlpool tub outside of the bathroom. The weekends can get a little loud and sometimes draw a different type of crowd later at night but again the staff kept everything under control and we had no problems what so ever.

Yes the rooms may be dated but mine was very clean the beds were very comfy I had zero complaints You can see they definitely have made upgrades Thanks for the graduation bears in each room such a nice idea
